£159,995

A highly desirable 1992 Porsche 911 (964) Carrera RS, Guards Red with triple grey leather interior — a genuine German-market example.
Lightweight, driver-focused design, with aluminium panels, thinner glass, and removal of non-essential luxuries, coupled with the potent 3.6-litre flat-six and single-mass flywheel.
Offered from long-term ownership, enjoyed sparingly and now presented for sale following nearly 25 years with the current owner.
The Porsche 911 Carrera RS represents the pinnacle of Porsche’s homologation specials, a lineage that began with the legendary 2.7 RS in 1973. That original RS was a lightweight, track-focused road car, built to satisfy FIA regulations and dominate production-based racing, with a distinctive ducktail spoiler, uprated suspension, and minimal luxuries — a formula that has guided all subsequent Carrera RS models.
Following the 930 Turbo era, which saw no true RS variant, Porsche returned to this philosophy with the 964 Carrera RS in 1992. Based on the modernized 964 platform, which was itself a substantial evolution of the 911 — with nearly 85% new components — the 964 RS combined contemporary engineering with the classic RS ethos. Under its bonnet sat a more potent 3.6-litre flat-six engine paired with a lightweight single-mass flywheel, boosting power to 260 bhp. Porsche went to great lengths to reduce weight by almost 175 kg, incorporating aluminium doors and bonnet, thinner side and rear glass, and the removal of luxuries such as rear seats, power windows, adjustable front seats, armrests, and even power steering, resulting in sharper feedback and a more engaging driving experience.
Lowered suspension and uprated brakes confirmed the 964 RS’s sporting intent, while its narrow body and lack of rear spoiler emphasized lightweight elegance. Excluding the lower-specification RS America for the United States and the RSR variants, only 2,051 examples were built, cementing its rarity and desirability among enthusiasts and collectors alike.
Manufactured in Stuttgart for the 1992 model year, this example was specified in the ever-popular Guards Red with a Black/Pearl Grey triple grey leather interior featuring black carpets, and a black roofliner. A desirable German-market car, it spent its early life serviced by PZ Sportwagen and Porsche Recklinghausen, the latter located in the Münster region of northern Germany, before being imported to the UK and first registered here in January 1998. It subsequently passed through two further keepers before being acquired by the current owner around 2000 from a friend.
In current ownership, the car has been greatly enjoyed, including three European road trips during the early years of tenure. The car was maintained by JZM Porsche and GT One before entering long-term storage — very sparingly used, with oil changes and maintenance where necessary.
Following this period of storage and nearing twenty-five years of ownership, this desirable 964 Carrera RS is offered for sale as the owner wishes to reduce his considerable collection. As part of the sale, the car will receive a full recommissioning service with either GT One, JZM, or any renowned Porsche specialist of choice, ready for its next owner to use and enjoy.
Included with the vehicle is a history file containing the original German Porsche Guarantee and Maintenance booklet, within which are service stamps dating back to its first service in February 1992. A vehicle information printout by Porsche is also present, along with previous invoices for maintenance, MOT certificates, a printed 964 RS Service Information Technik, and sundry documents.
